It was already broke Hambone.  Must have happened within the day or two prior to when I shot him because it was pretty clean.

I saw that to and was going to ask if the first shot was a warning shot :chuckle: Look's like it is super fresh to me. Where they still rutting pretty good?

Yeah I honestly thought I had shot off that point!  :chuckle: However, it didn't appear to be shot with a bullet at all after three of us inspected it.  It was already broke.  And honestly, the rut in Montana was dead this year.  The warmer weather and rain shut it down.  I was a little dissapointed.

Sorry to hear that. It's turned off to fast here as well. I think over the years I have had 5 people shoot points off or blow the whole horn off. My cousin did that a couple years ago shooting at a 2x3. Lucky for him he blew the 2 point side off because he could never find it :chuckle: That would be a tuff one to explain to the game warden :chuckle: :chuckle:

My grandfather cracked one in the horn a long time ago. Dropped dead as a doornail. Until we got up to him we had no idea where he hit it. Then looking at the horn it notch a chunk out of the main beam. When I caped the deer out it had split his skull :yike: Never seen anything like it.

That's funny!  :chuckle:  I've heard of guys hitting them in the horn and it dropping them like a sack of rocks.  I witnessed several sets of horns with points shot off or chunks taken out and they look different than the one broken off on this guy.  This looks more like a point that got chipped off during a fight.  If I had shot it off though, I would have been fine with it. Give it a little more character!  :chuckle:

Looks pretty flawless, Jon. I did notice a grammar error but aside from that I think you're mostly flawless and good to go.
