Security box Camo!
« on: November 28, 2012, 10:28:37 AM »
Got my security box in the mail yesterday and decided to shoot some flat green/brown on it but afterwards decided that wasn't good enough! Got some moss while I was out hunting this morning and figured that would do the trick!

You guys got any pictures of your creative camp setups ?

Yea it was a two part epoxy resin that I had laying around. You just gotta smear it on kind of thick and push the moss down on it so it gets into all the layers of the moss. Ill get a picture of it later today when I mount it to the tree (which is also covered in moss) and see how well it blends. Its mostly for human deterrent.. I just had a camera stolen last week so I'm trying to avoid that!!

Sweet thanks for the info great idea...cant wait to see pics I bet it will blend in well. Sorry bout the stolen camera some people just cant leave things alone. I put all my cameras in boxes due to the fact that I have lost a few to bears chewing them up. I think they are a great deterent to thieves as well since they would have to work harder to steal them!

Yea I gotta go pick up a couple lag bolts to screw it into the tree. No more messin around! And its going into some timber so you'll have to be right on top of it to see it anyway so I'm hoping nothing happens except for tons of deer/elk walking by it!!!

The bottom pic shows it the best.......camo does not match. I have used moss in the past and the best way to make it work it to collect it near the camera location.

Well the moss is from the same location. The problem is I pulled the moss a couple days ago and it has since died a little and turned lighter which is to be expected. I think it looks pretty good but its also pretty deep in some timber so i don't think theft or vandalism is gonna be an issue this time around. But I do gotta keep an eye on it cause I believe that area is about to get logged!! Gosh that would suck!

Also how do I get make it so my pictures aren't posted sideways?

Spray paint the moss to match the seasons.
