someone explain this to me, modern vs arch hunting times
« on: November 30, 2012, 08:25:52 AM »
so am i understanding this right, if you choose modern and you can only hunt the listed modern seasons and when its over its over, and you cannot hunting with any other weapon during any other weapons times

Am I understanding right that if you choose archery, when your archery hunting dates are not active, you can hunt archery during muzzy & modern seasons too?

No that's not right.

With an archery tag you can only hunt archery seasons.

 :yeah:

But you can hunt with Archery equipment with a muzzy or modern tag, during muzzy and modern season.

If you choose Archery, you can only hunt archery season.

If you choose muzzleloader, you can only hunt muzzleloader season.

If you choose modern, you can only hunt modern.

Now what equipment you can use in each season varies, for example if you have a modern tag, during modern season you can use your bow to hunt.

To make more money.

The person with such a tag is allowed to hunt all three seasons.

Buy why do they have it so you can use archery during rifle as was posted ? I know you can't because everybody would do it, right ?

I think I have this right.....

If you choose Archery, you can only hunt archery season with archery equipment only.

If you choose muzzleloader, you can only hunt muzzleloader season with legal muzzleloading equipment or archery equipment.

If you choose modern, you can only hunt modern. But can hunt it with any legal weapon (rifle, archery, ML, etc.)

Multi season tag allows you to hunt Archery season with archery equipment only, if you dont fill your tag, you can then hunt muzzleloader season with a legal muzzleloader or archery equipment, and if you dont fill your tag then you may hunt the modern season with any legal weapon (rifle, archery, ML, etc.)

I doubt it.
You may use archery equipment during modern, you can NOT use an archery tag to hunt during modern.
Guys that use archery equipment during modern (without the multi season tag) are only hunting with archery because they are diehard archery guys, or dont have a rifle or want to archery hunt and area that they feel is a better time of year to hunt. They are not hunting the archery season as well as the modern season on their one tag.  Only the multi season tag would allow you to do that.

You can hunt the season for which you have the tag.   That is, if you have archery, muzzle loader, or modern tag, you can only hunt those three seasons, respectively.  Now, what equipment you can use is a different question. Archery and muzzle loaders are valid equipment during modern, but you would still have to have the modern tag, and you could not choose to hunt archery or muzzle loader season with the modern tag.

Just purchase a multi season tag and use your archery gear in whichever season you want, no confusion for you that way, just be sure to wear your hunter orange clothing. :chuckle:

I do it mostly because I enjoy bowhunting, but the special permits I want to apply for are for modern guys.  The last couple years with the multi season tag being almost a gimme, makes it easy.
