Personally I like the late archery since, earlier in the year seems to be to hot.  I have a hunter orange hoodie, tried to hunt modern and was sweating before taking two steps from the car....thought to myself any animal with fur would be hiding in a cool spot and sleeping in this heat.  Switched to hunter orange t-shirt, didn't see a thing all season.

I think I have this right.....

If you choose Archery, you can only hunt archery season with archery equipment only.

If you choose muzzleloader, you can only hunt muzzleloader season with legal muzzleloading equipment or archery equipment.

If you choose modern, you can only hunt modern. But can hunt it with any legal weapon (rifle, archery, ML, etc.)

Multi season tag allows you to hunt Archery season with archery equipment only, if you dont fill your tag, you can then hunt muzzleloader season with a legal muzzleloader only, and if you dont fill your tag then you may hunt the modern season with any legal weapon (rifle, archery, ML, etc.)

This guy has it, but with the multi-season tag you can use muzzy and bow during muzzy just like normal.

The incentive tag adds a whole nother layer to this that I'm not sure even I have a grip on. As I understand it:
You can hunt Sept ?? to Decemper 31. In any unit that has hunting for your species except those they say you cant in the packet.
If there is an active hunt in the unit you must abide by that hunts rules. If there isnt an active hunt you must abide by Modern firearm rules.

So at any given time from the first part of September well into January in some units, you could run into a hunter carrying pretty well any weapon type and he could very well be legaly hunting elk or deer. If you add in waterfowl, cougar, bear, grouse, coyotes, ect..... You could pretty well run into a hunter with any weapon type, any time of the year, and they very likely could be legaly hunting something.

Some of us take advantage of this, but most seem to only hit the woods in October and November. The rest of the year you hardly see anyone save for turkey season and the high buck. Then I run into them Primetime Outdoors guys and their cameras.  :)

Some guys use archery during modern season in firearm restriction or no shooting areas like the end of the Coyle

LOL.  I am kidding, I understand that you would need to hunt with the appropriate weapon for that season but can hunt in all three.  Sorry  ;)  I still think that the raffle and special permit process is hard to follow but I have this down.

So, if i buy a modern tag and a multi-season tag, I can hunt with my rifle during archery?

No.    :bash:

The only legal way for a felon to hunt is with archery equipment, unless they've had their firearm rights restored.  I've encountered felons with archery equipment during modern and muzzy because that was the season their friends/family hunt.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

You can hunt with archery equipment in Modern season or with a Muzzle loader in modern. I have for several years used archery equipment in Modern just because it's too damned hot in the reg arch season so I chose modern tag. very much at a disadvantage though. I liked the late arch season, but the areas were always too far. No you can not use archery in muzzle loading only seasons. Money may very well be the reason for the multiple season tags, but lots like myself if we did not kill a deer elk in one season we wanted to be able to hunt in other seasons as well. I believe at one time until they made us chose just one tag for weapon choice you could strait up. not this permit crap though. I would more like it over the counter where I could buy all those tags individually. If this was the case I think the state would make far more money on that. What they could do is lower the price a bit on each tag, but package it like the do the Deer, Elk, Bear, Cougar tags. Then offer different options to purchase all one two or whatever combo one might want.
However this year and I may have missed it they did away with the combo Deer, Elk, and Bear combo why? I like that combo since I'm not much on cougar hunting although I have boughten the full meal deal before.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Boy, am I glad you guys had this conversation.  I must admit that I mis-understood the Multi Season Permit.  In other words:

"The Multi Season Permit simply extends the legal number of days for a person to hunt, beyond just the archery/muzzleloader/modern seasons.  In return for the favor, we get to pay $180."

Now, do I have it correct??
