Do you use a Dog ramp on your boat?

How many use a dog ramp or steps to get the dog back in the boat after a retreive? Lets see a photo.

Planing to teach my new pup to hunt out of the boat this summer. Like to find a means of self entry from the bow instead of stearn.

most stuff on the market does'nt look that good. Any home made ones out there?

I've got one that is a work in progress, built from scrap angle iron, plywood & stuff I had laying around. It's not pretty but It'll work for me, I ain't tryin to impress anyone. It is attached to the stern, folds into the boat & will come off with 2 bolts, I may have to lengthen it though after I test it out.

Will get pics later & post it.

It is attached to the transom, folds into the boat & will come off with 2 1/2" bolts, I may have to lengthen it  or make another short step with a 6" rise though after I test it out.

Here they are & like I said it is a work in progress, any positive criticism greatly accepted.
I used the existing bolts on the transom cover for a 12V trolling motor to attach it.


I offset it so I could fold it into the boat for transit mode.


This is how it looks stowed from the front & it's heavy enough to not fly up while under power (I hope & may need to bungy it down)


This is probably the only flawd area, if it failes it will fail here just need to keep an eye on it for a while.

Not perfect, but better than the other 2 ladders I've used in the past.  Have added some strips of carpet for better traction. 
Whatever you decide on for a ladder/ramp, do lots of practice with your pup in your shop/garage before you hit the water.

The only problem I'd have with the detachable kind is forgettin to bring it in B-4 I takeoff!!! LOL

It was really weird. My brother in laws boat was really doggin' it when I was heading back for the boat ramp then, all of a sudden it popped up on a plane like it hit the turbo boost. I just thought it was running funny??? Got to the boat launch and had a rope about 15' long hanging from the bow. Huh? wait....ohh... I put the anchor down. Mysteriously, the rope reached exactly to the prop. He should get himself one of those prop guards/river runner to protect from loosing anchors. Or, not let brother in laws borrow boats..

I tried that once but the anchor was dug in tight, what I sometimes forget to do is stow the trolling motor!!!!
