Ok, I will say it. I have cut out infected areas and eaten the other portion.

Cooking kills this parasite.

Many many guys have eaten a whole lot of this parasite in the past with no ill effect.

One more reason I like to skin and not pluck my waterfowl.

I was not aware of rice breast until this year. I opened up a fat green head and the breasts were riddled with the little parasites. That duck did not get eaten.

I haven't plucked many ducks in the last twenty years either.  We talked about this parasite in a Wildlife Ecology class back in 1985, it's been around a while.
