Trail Cam Question?
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:02:35 PM »
I'm going to go set up a trail cam tomorrow and I was wondering what is good bait to put in front of it?
What are your thoughts?

I feed alfalfa, apples, and pinto beans, the deer eat the apples then the alfalfa then the beans. I usually bait a station up to last all season, keeping human scent to a minimum.

Use apples if you can get them. There are still apples to be found on apple trees, at least around where I live. I just picked about 50 pounds off the ground from a couple of apple trees yesterday. Apples are all I have ever used, but you could try some COB from the feed store. Maybe some doe in heat scent might work good too, this time of year to get the bucks to come around.

Depends on what your looking for. I believe Bobcat had out a deer or elk carcass and was getting pretty cool pics of.......a bobcat last year. Might have been a coyote in there also.

That's true, it does depend on what you're after! I just assumed deer.   :dunno:
