When the pickin's get poor
« on: December 03, 2012, 11:46:08 PM »
Elk tag soup
One Elk tag, unfilled. Can be a combination of or individual archery, muzzy, modern.
Bring to a simmer in two cups of water, reduce heat and pour into appropriate glass.
Sip while hot, and ruminate over failed elk season.
Ive been really enjoying this dish this fall

oh but it can be seasoned with a deer & bear tag, if the pickins get too poor i have 2 elk tags 2 deer tags and 2 bear tags to help you spice up that soup

p.s. thanks for reminding me.... :bash:

Im told the shelf life is pretty short. Flavor is best about 1 month after season  :chuckle:

Still working on the elk tag, deer on the other hand is still ageing  for better flavor.

you guys do realize that you can freeze some of these ingredients or the finished soup (i usually will combine them all at the end of season & make stew) to relish at different times of the year ( holidays ect ...)

I can throw in a Montana deer/elk combo tag.  I passed up shots on legal deer looking for a trophy but never saw a legal elk.  I saw lots of pretty wolf tracks though.
