Shot a 2 pt in 3 pt area

ok, not really, but say you shot one and it turned out the the 3 pt you were shooting had brow tines that were 1/8th inch 2 short.

What would you do?

Never seen a gamie take a tape measure to an antler.   Usually they will just stand back and think, either yup that looks like 2" or no way is that two inches.  In short as many will say "if you are not sure don't shoot"!  It really is not that difficult.  I personally take a lot of pride in the number of deer and elk I have passed on because I was not sure of something.  I think it has made me a better hunter.

Then I would post about it on Hunt Wa and wait for all of the holier-than-thou guys that have never done anything wrong and were born with a perfectly formed set of outdoor ethics to condemn me for page after page.

A point is 1" long not 2" and i have seen this happen they taged the animal and took it home proud of thier kill.. Here is something to think about what if you shoot a big buck and he rolls through some cliffs and breaks his antlers off about four inches above his eyrguards and you can only find a couple small pieces of tiips.. Is he still a legal buck?

This is why I don't like the one inch rule, I think in Oregon it is considered a point if you can hang a key ring off it, much better rule IMO.

What difference does it make if it is one inch two inches or longenough for a ring.  You can't walk up to the deer and test the ring theory or measure it with a tape.     I just don't shoot.  I've seen many bucks I couldn't grow a third point on and had no regrets, except maybe a few outside the ear smooth twos that I think NEED to be shot.
