Go pro question

Are you allowed to have a go pro on your shotgun while waterfowl hunting? What about on the dog? Didn't know because of the no electronic rule

I would think the no electronics would only apply to the decoys and calls. But be careful because the footage will show this misses too!  :chuckle: Pretty cool idea though!

As long as it's not aiding you in the hunt, (calling, attracting) we have used them before it really does give people that don't hunt (like my wife) a good idea of what it's like

IfI were you I would CYA and call WDFW and ask them. If they say go for it make sure you write there name down. Like I said CYA, you don't want to get caught by a gamie who interprets the laws differently. Had a similar thing happen to a buddy and because he had the name of the person he talked to it was dropped right there on the spot.  :twocents:

Have at it. It doesn't enhance your hunt. I bought one the other day and will use it whatever way I want. It's a camera and nothing else.

Legal.  It would be cool to have one on the shotgun and one on the dog and then edit the two footages together.

I use one bird hunting.  I have a mount on my gun and a headband mount.  Haven't tried to mount to the pooch yet, I've heard the Chesty can work for it though.  They way I look at it, its no different than videoing your hunt with a camera on a tripod.

Your fine on whatever you place it on.  My buddy has one on the collar of his dog.  I have a shotgun mount one and one for my head.  We had 5 going the other day.  No restrictions on a camera.  They had restrictions on devices that project a laser for for sighting purposes, etc.  It's not an electronic call.  Good to go.  If you want a dozen on around where you shoot, go for it.  Ours will be out in the morning recording.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I think the GoPro idea on the dog is a great one. I'd pay a nickel to see that.

:yeah:

The "No electronics" rule refers to anything that aids in attracting birds to you.
Like a sexy robot Hen mallard, for example, would be a no-go.
You can use all the electronincs you want, as long as they don't make ripples in the water, make noises that attract, or flag ducks in for a landing.... just for instance.
Stan Marsh: "My Uncle Jimbo says we gotta get up there early. Right Uncle Jimbo?"

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

I mean... we all use flash lights or heaters or microwave ovens or Televisions while hunting in the blind. Those are electronics... right?   :chuckle:
But they don't help you attract birds.

Depends how loud the volume is when you are watching Butt (for you Run), I mean Duck Commander.    :chuckle:
