Filled my Muzzy Tag tonight
« on: December 07, 2012, 09:09:03 PM »
I was holding out for a whitetail buck but decided I should take the opportunity in front of me. I had permission to hunt this land this afternoon only. There were deer moving everywhere. I found a group of 14 does and a really nice 4x4 in a wheat field. I got to 100 yard and picked out the one I wanted. She jumped about 6 feet in the air and took off. I was worried I hit here too far back as she lit off for the timber. It turns out, I hit a little to far forward. She ran about 150 yards before she pilled up. I had to chase the herd away from her. They didn't leave until I walked within 15 yards of them.
Sunday morning I can try to fill my second deer tag with a tasty whitetail doe.

100 yard shot with a Lyman Great Plains Rifle. 275gr. TC Maxi Hunter with 90 grains of Triple Seven

I'm curious, nothing wrong with a doe in the freezer, but why not shoot the buck?  Just reread, was it a muley buck in WT buck only?  Those eastside regs seem strange sometimes.  Good luck on your other deer.

It is the late muzzy season in unit 130. It is open for mulie and wt doe or wt buck 3 point minimum.

Bummer, but the doe's going to taste good.  Go fill that other tag!
