Anyones bow string ever break
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:51:31 AM »
When I was shooting my bow a couple of nights ago the string snapped. I did not dry fire it, there was an arrow nocked when it just gave way. When the string snapped it broke an arrow in my quiver, the arrow nocked, and my rest.  Besides that it got me in the back of my wrist leaving a nice size welt.

The bow was my brand new DXT >:(. I took it in to Van Winkles yesterday where I bought it and they where going to give Mathews a call and see what they can do. They were also going to try and get it back to me by Friday so I can go deer hunting this weekend.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them or knows someone who has?

If it was new I wonder if it was dry fired at the store or something?

There was a guy at sportsman's in Burlington this morning that just had the same problem last night...Apparently with a new bow he bought last week (didn't catch the make/model, but looked like a new PSE???).

Anywho, he was demanding his bow be replaced...not just repaired (I don't blame him).
I left it better than I found it...did you?
I hunt animals because veggies are too easy to stalk.

I talked to the guy from Van Winkles over the phone yesterday and he was very helpful.  They are putting a winners choice bow string and a new rest on it. They also looked the bow over very carefully and they didn't see anything wrong with it.  Luckily the bow has a life time warranty on it.

Hopefully I get to pick up the bow today.

Glad your weren`t seriously hurt. Mathews has excellent customer service. What type of rest was it?

I`ve heard good things about that rest. Were you able to get them to replace it?

Ya they were more than happy to replace the rest. I just picked the bow up.
