Rescue opportunity Idaho
« on: January 13, 2013, 09:49:42 AM »
Forward from another board

Heads up to any rescue programs available.

"Please pass the word if someone who might want a hunting dog or jus another
dog I received this from Drew Wahlin President of idaho chuckar fondation

Ron Hammett walkwalk 408-629-684

You may have seen this on the news, but our Canyon County shelter just seized 30
English Setters and Pointers from deplorable conditions in Caldwell (news story
here: http://www.kivitv.com/news/local/184446521.html , seems they're from this
guy: www.lakehollowsetters.com/ ) Although he looks legitimate online, many of
the dogs were starving, covered in waste, and severely neglected.Turns out he was
also growing pot. I was actually there volunteering on the day he came in to
"check" on his dogs and was subsequently arrested. Crazy.

Anyway, I'm not sharing this to pain you, rather our shelter is maxed out and is
going to need help with foster and placement of many of these dogs. Do you have
rescue contacts/networks in your bird dog circles? People that have a love for
these breeds and would know what to do to help these poor creatures or find them
suitable care? Even if they just want to donate to support their care here in
Caldwell? I would love to be able to connect anyone who can help to our shelter
director. You can email me back at sevenstarsheltie@... or here, but I'm
checking the gmail much more frequently! J

Thank you somuch, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas with your own pack!
-Ariel"

I don't know much more about this, just passing the word along.

I knew Jerry years ago,  these dogs should have good blood lines, to bad he went sideways.

Just goes to show the internet can make something appear to be something else.Mail order pups, look at the website and then look at the newspaper article pictures of what was going on there, polar opposites.

anymore news on this?
sounds like the dogs were just an excuse to bust Jerry for his illegal marijuana growing pursuits. i heard a vet checked out all 30 dogs and 24 were deemed healthy and fit ( probably too skinny to most non bird dog people) and six were geriatric.  either way ii am sure his dogs will need new homes, since he will be in the slammer.

So the pictures that were put on the news site was a couple of the dogs that were malnourished maybe they were females that had recently had pups and still need to be brought back up to weight? I can see how they would have used the dogs to get to.his pot growing op

most pointers look too skinny to people that haven't been around these athletic dogs, although I am sure it doesn't take much for a fit and trim pointer to look emaciated. same goes for setters, but their longer fur hides it for the most part.
