1.125 for me!  Nothing better than a graphite and steel injection  ;)

When it comes to guns...anything in the safe will do the job.  My favorite changes depending on how long it's been since I pulled the trigger with one or the other.

25-06 is what I carry. Bt, wt, muleys. It's killed 10 deer in the last 4 years 100-420 yards. All died with a single shot. Accubonds seem to do that tho  :dunno:

Next choice is the 6mm

I guess this really depends on the terrain you hunt in WY.  Is it thick, if so 30-30, if more open .270, IMHO, is the best deer gun.

I don't think there is a "BEST DEER CALIBER".   Thats kind of like asking what is the best candy bar?  Everyone has their own opinion.  Just pick which flavor works for you.  My favorite flavor is 7-08 topped with Snickers coated 139 gr Hornady Interbond (but I'm not saying it is "THE BEST").

the absolute best killing gun, is the one you can shoot accurately with. Its 100% about shot placement. Alot of people with the bigger calibers are worse off, cause they are flinchers!

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
