If it were me and deer were the priority, 460, if elk was the priority, 550. :twocents:

I don't know 460 at all, other than what I see of it when I go over the pass. But if you're just wanting to successfully fill one tag, the deer tag will be much easier. And I do know there are relatively few deer in the Coweeman unit. At least from what I've seen of it. So my vote would be for 460. I would think you might even see higher numbers of deer right now because some have probably migrated down to lower elevations. Also I believe you could have decent odds of finding a bigger than average buck, whereas in the Coweeman that would be very unlikely.

Any preferred aces points? I have a snoqualmie day pass too. And I don't mind hiking in miles. I know the twin falls area a bit, and a few others I have driven too and scouted a bit. But nowhere I'm set on, and all my scouting was before the snow.

Thanks again to all the help I've received here on my first year hunting WA. I am really appreciative.

Skyvalhunter, I was hunting the 1600 line and saw two deer. Is there a better area?

And does anyone know if the Tinkham rd area is good in 460? or should I go to the tree farm?

I was in the 550 off the Headquarters Road, near where it is gated at the east end. I saw more deer than elk, including one legal buck, no legal bulls.

last week saw a nice BT sniffing tail of a doe so keep your eyes open as some does did not get serviced earlier might be coming into heat now.
Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3
