How many of you have read the Treaty of 1855?  It doesn't sound like some of you have.  The federal government agreed to allow the 13(?) bands and tribes that make up the Yakama nation to hunt and gather on their usual lands and fishing sites, and any unclaimed lands.  The real kicker is what the Feds allow to be interpreted as unclaimed land.  That would be national forests, BLM, the feeding station at Naches, etc...  Do you remember the tribal member shooting elk at the feeding station a few years back?

It is a crying shame that they don't have to follow our rules when off the rez.  If they had to buy a tag and follow the same rules we do we would only see a very tiny % of them hunting where we hunt.

I used to work at the Yakama owned mill in White Swan.  Not all of them agree with the behavior I am hearing described.  On the other hand, I met some of the most racist individuals on earth there too.  Figure it's one more way to put it to "whitey".

my great uncle(80 years old) is a quinalt, and I was able to tag along and be a packer.....according to him!!!!!  He was regulated and able to shoot two deer and two elk annually...this was ten years ago mind you.  All I was saying in my first post is that I as well as many other hunters in Washington state are fed up, with the overtaking of animals on our land.  and I say our land, because we pay taxes.....!
I also pay taxes

Federal agencies don't simply call their lands "unclaimed." A judge was the one who stated that lands that were used for hunting such as DNR, WDFW, and federal lands such as BLM, USFS, etc. are to be considered "unclaimed" and open to tribal hunting. You seem to think that this was a decision by a federal agency, which it was not.

Aren't those judges part of the federal government?  Maybe my government teacher was wrong.

I think we need a couple hundred hunters to show up at Fort Simcoe for a little reservation hunt this weekend.  They got some nice bulls back behind the fort.

It sure has, on many occasions.  I don't know if I would want to hunt the animal preserve, you may want to but, that's not for me.
