The question is not if the family can eat all of the meat but whether the herd can withstand the over harvest.... I believe the answer is no.
Actually the question I have is why must they eat mostly the biggest antlered migrating males? :dunno:

Like I asked earlier, how many years has this unit been a slaughtering ground. 5,10? I don't know, thats why I'm asking.

There have been a small number of indians hunting in there for several years, not really a big deal. Its the last 2-3 years that its gotten out of hand, coincidentally not long after this site came along. ;)

Probably because those who are doing it have completely lost touch with their traditions and values...or they were never really impressed on them.

just a question for lil red and time and any other native Americans following this post.. how much does any one family need to sustain for the winter? i have a family of five and we are hard pressed to eat an elk and deer if I'm lucky enough to harvest both in one season. and why not share harvest info with wdfw to sustain herds for future of all. why not have a  season set for your user group. and limit your late season harvest while deer are breeding and wintering. trying not to bash anyone just questions.i teach my kids its not a right to hunt, but a privilege... maybe i can get a legit answer, maybe not!
There are multiple familys that need it also, I hunt for my inlaws also, but I dont go filling up my truck just because I can, just whats needed, also I dont do it cause of some bs shiapos did years and years ago lol thats just pure ignorance there I do cause its one of my rights

That right there is ignorance. There is a reason that proper buck to doe ratio is important to proper herd management.

As long as the tribes continue to go in here and pound the migrators on the winter range with rifles. There really is no reason to have this area a permit hunt any longer. Time to open it back up for general late season archery....

What do you mean by proper? Proper for horn growth, or numbers?

How come we get hammered for using derogatory names for Native but they get to use their derogatory names for us?

Where is your proof? Based on the current situation the arguement can be made that it was indians that actually wiped out the herds. ;)

Pukes is more derogatory then shiapo
Except "pukes" isn't being used as a term describing Natives. It's being used as a term describing the people decimating our mule deer herds. Whereas "Shiapo" is being used to describe white people...

How so?
How am I supposed to teach you about proper herd management in one post? If you really care to learn there are a lot of different sources that will educate you on this. Our very own WDFW uses Buck to doe ratio as a big part of their herd management.
