Well, if so many bucks are getting dropped after the main rut, seems like a doe doesn't have that much of a hard time getting bred.     Grundy, if I recall correctly, didn't you say that there were 17 in your party? And 13 bulls killed? That's an awful lot of bull killing for one camp. How is your herd doing?
The difference here Mountainwalk is they are accounted for and have harvest limits set accordingly.

Its obvious you have no problem with whats happening in Entiat and Swakane, you seem to be arguing the indians point to exhaustion, why not just come out and say it? :dunno:

Not to be inflammatory, but there are infinite over the counter bull and buck tags available in most areas here in western Washington.  Where are the harvest limits in that management regime?  There are areas over here that can have every branched bull shot out just as Long as we keep most of those spikes alive until the end of the following September so they can breed as rag horns. That's how a party of 17 can shoot 12 elk from "managed" herds.
Every three years the game department reviews harvest statistics and sets the dates of the hunts accordingly. There is a reason we only get to hunt with a rifle for 12 days... not 6 months and those 12 days are in November not September or December. Also we are only allowed one elk per person per year....

You're giving wdfw too much credit.  There are people hunting from September through December in most areas (with a few breaks).  If the state has a high success year they could effectively kill everything.  Thank god for private property, closed gates, rain, lazy hunters, the park, the reservation, trees, brush, etc... Those things are what really limit harvest, not the state.  If you don't agree with that, you have blinders on.  I have a better understanding of population dynamics and reconstruction modeling then most.  You can't fool me with big words.  Regulations have little to do with actual science (state or tribal).  Science may be used to try to justify decisions that have already been made.

Indians need to read our regs before posting, its been shown many times on this thread that most dont know them what so ever. If you did you'd see you dont have much of an argument . Not pointing you out directly coastal native, but just from the various posts I've seen coming from who I assume have native privileges.

Just do one thing, look at our regs for deer and elk  :twocents:

So all the trophies are all yours to all who are in this discussion :dunno:
A big bull will typically have more meat on him than say a two years old cow same with a buck vs doe :chuckle:

Looks like AK to me. In which case, it has no bearing on this discussion. Up there, you may kill many many deer.   My native buddies? I hardly know em! How presumptuous!

Huh? What do I care about?

That the tribes have no excuse to what they are doing? That they take advantage of every opportunity they get? Im sorry this is the stereotype the tribes have given themselves, but dont try to condone what is going on. Try to skew things, but the truth is what the tribes are doing is wrong. Enjoy what you have while it lasts, and i dont think thats long.

I respect most natives and their heritage, but i can't stand what's happening in the tribes. Please go ask the elders what they think of their youth . When a kid serves a minor lifetime sentence  only to be rewarded with over  100k when he gets out, i think theirs an issue

I'll never take a "real" side to it..  Indians been hunting and killing for thousands of years. And will continue to do so. Don't see why folks can't grasp it. Besides, I just don't like it when folks all dogpile one or two people and even stretching to covert racism. Just seems like lots of folks have sour grapes they can't do the same.
Why don't YOU go talk to the elders.  I really don;t care one way or the other.
