Big Buck Down!
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:50:12 PM »
...... Well he isnt a monster  :chuckle: I was trying to hold out for a big buck all year. I passed quite a few deer during early season and couldnt get it done with the rifle. I told myself if I still had my tag during late archery, I would turn into a meet hunter and take the first deer to present me with a shot. Well, at about 740 this morning this guy presented me with a 30 yard broadside shot in the timber I was walking. I decided to let an arrow fly and I double lunged him and he ran 30 yards and tumbled. It is the smallest buck I have ever taken, but he tastes amazing! I needed the meat and knew if I took him, I would eat every ounce of meat. I am so thankful to be able to share this experience with my dad right by my side and I thank God for another day in the woods. I am glad I filled my tag and its time to start planning for next year!

Definitely the smallest buck around. To be completely honest, when I shot, I thought he was a doe,  :chuckle: good thing it is an any deer unit. Im glad I got some meat in the freezer though.
And I took the time to sit down and score him and he came out to 1 1/8" P&Y.....  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
