Huskama scope
« on: December 17, 2012, 08:48:51 AM »
Do anyone have one of these mounted?  Looking for some information on these scopes, I have heard they are great but I am not familiar with them.  Want to put a scope on a new rifle I am going to purchase after the new year.

What's your plan for the new rifle?  Long range shooting?

I have killed a few critters through them.. I dont own one and never will.. Dont trust them! One will be a great scope and another is junk just not the quality control that some of the higher end companys do.. If you want a true long range scope save your money and get a nightforce.. Just my two cents... I shoot leupold scopes with turets!

I own 2.  Guns are built right, and the scopes preform well.  I wouldn't go as far as to say some are junk and some are not.  Because one out of a hundred has a problem?  Don't all scope companies have a bad seed once in a while?  Anyhow, I would also recommend going with a G7 built from NF, as they are definately a "better" scope, but cost quite a bit more as well.  How far do you plan on shooting this gun?  The Leupys are a nice with the CDS if you don't plan on shooting farther than 600yds.  I  know guys will argue, but they don't account for enough variables when building the turret.  Sure you can hit targets at 800-900, but definately not with the precission of a Husk or NF. :twocents:

I have a huskamaw on my 300 win mag, and I like it. I've had it for about 6 years, my longest kill was 550 on a pretty small bear and at 650 I put rounds 1 inch away from the bull's eye and 1 inch down. I like the turret the most, no damn math to do, just range it and get the wind right and shoot. If I had to do it over I would have them set it up for me for the extra money, what a pain in the ass that was.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

The tv shows preaching they make long range shooting easy is enough for me to not want to support them. Killing an animal at 800 yards is not easy and a scopes not gonna do it for you.

You don't need an expensive scope to shoot a long ways. I've seen guys that I shoot steel with use $100 Osprey scopes and are hitting steel at 8-900 yards with them.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

If it's who I'm thinking you're referring to, he is also a hell of a long range rifle builder as well.

I have the 5x20 on my 6.5x284 .  on my first trip out it shoot a sub 2 inch group at 400 yards ( after break in ) mine has the angle finder and level kit aswell . the thing that I really like is the wind value holds on the turret , this makes it quicker than doing the math . the only down fall is if you want to change loads you nned new turrets . my 30-378 will most likley get one to. Claude at the shooters shop in Grahm can set it up for you . he did mine and it's right on .
