Help with a dog coat/vest.

Without going into to much detail, my living situation has turned into living in a camp trailer owned by my grandparents and they won't allow me to keep my dog in the trailer. I've been letting her sleep in my car at night and she has recently started to destroy everything in my car. I built her a dog house and want to have her start sleeping in it but I want to get her a good insulated vest/coat. Problem I'm having is I don't know wich to get? Are there any suggestions?

I use the horse blanket style for my whp.  You wuold not want this type for hunting, but for staying outside it works great.  I got it from coastal farm and ranch.  I will see if I can find a link.  They hold up very well and keep him very warm.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I would think a light bulb would be better then a vest for overnight temps.

I do plan on adding a heat lamp and soon to be adding insulation to it. I originally built to add 2in thick insulation with enough room to add more wood to cover the insulation but I haven't had the money yet. It'll be the foam insulation not the fiberglass

Simple answer
 find your self a 3 pound metal coffee can then mount a 4/0 metal box with a keyless fixture in the bottom it will protect the dog from the lamp busting and they can still keep warm. Adjust the lamp as needed. usually a 40 watt is max for most animals. Once you add the insulation it works perfect. Aluminum foil over the top also cuts down on the back light. Or your could fit some expanded metal to keep fido out of the lamp.

Got 2 heated cat houses right now. All I see is a nose or a paw when it's cold.

 I have a heat lamp bulb I would donate to you. I'm in Tacoma.

I would lean more toward straw or grass for insulation and bedding rather than a coat. Insulating the house is great also especially if that means some kind of flooring and a flap on the door.  Light sounds great but I have had no experience with one and maybe someone can speak about the risk of electrical fire hazard?  I know most of my dogs might easily chew there way into anything including a light and any guard you can think of for it.

Dry house just big enough for the dog with a flap and straw and good feed with some substantial fat in it.
