What gun was this?
« on: December 21, 2012, 07:19:14 PM »
About 15 years ago I was in a pawn shop and saw a gun that I wish I would have bought. I cant remember the maker or name of it. It was a military type black rifle. It was an over/under barrel with. 223 on top barrel and a 12 ga pump underneath. If I remember right it took AR type mags.

Anyone have any idea what this was?

This it?

No but thats cool. That looks like an AR with an added 12 ga setup. What I remember is the shotgun part was integrated with the whole gun. The shotgun barrel was directly underneath the .223 barrel. I cant remember the trigger configuration. It also didnt look "custom". It looked like a regularly manufactured firearm. I cant be 100% on it taking the AR mags even though it looked it did. It was a pistol grip but did not look like an AR platform. Really wish I bought it. If I remember it was $600 bucks or so.

I am pretty sure you are thinking of a Savage 24... They came in a plethora of caliber/guage combo's... I have never used one, but talked to a lot of people that have and they all loved them for hunting birds like grouse, but also for dual seasons like deer and grouse.

This list is from memory, but I think this is all of them...

The crossfire is the only rifle I can think of that fits that description. They didn't  get real popular, i thought it was a good concept. Had one for a while.

Ya missed one--I bought a Savage 24, 22WMR over 410 for $35 back in '67.  Still have it. It's one of the early ones with soldered barrels and the slector on the side of the receiver.  They are single shot though, not a pump gun.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I figured I missed one or two...

Yeah, totally missed the mark on what the OP has posted... Went back and read it again and not even sure how I even thought of the 24...

Probably sent while sitting on the ferry... While using Tapatalk 2

What did you think of it? Seems like a fun gun to own. Shoot good? Heavy? Would you recomend it?

They aren't the best rifle, but it was good and I couldn't think of a better coyote rig..
Never checked it in the accuracy dept. but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't that good..... :twocents:

I think this is what you're thinking of. They call them a "master Key"
