454 muzzy
« on: December 18, 2012, 10:04:37 PM »
Been reading this forum for years. This is my first post.grew up hunting and fishing this area.before the BMW.mercedes and volvos moved in. I decided to go for a quick day hunt late elk muzzy. I saw 4 poached carcasses.no front quarters no hind quarters. No heads. Also one deer head with the antlers sawed off. All right off the road next to gates. Is this hunting in rural king county now. Made me wanna puke. Sorry for this to be a first post but I've been around long enough to know a poach job. Comments please. BTW live as far west of the Issy as i can get. Was a great place to grow up.

Which gates? how do you know it was a "poach job"?

where was this? just general area, although it sounds like you won't be giving up any great spots.

Not sure what your point is. When I shoot an elk I take the front quarters, the rear quarters, and the head. Poaching, if it did occur, is not isolated to Issaquah.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

2 locations. All were deer not elk. Deer head near McDonald mt. Others off enumclaw Franklin rd. why do I think they were poached? If you shoot an animal and drag it out are you going to leave it minus the quarters and head right off the road for the Yotes?

The gates off enumclaw franklin are common dump sites for people who hunt deer/elk to dump the carcasses. It is definitely an eye sore, but it happens every year. Some of those gates are private property, so no hunting should occur. As far as poaching, not like you think, just dump sites.

Thx. For the reply big tex. I've  been wrong before wont be the last. Dump a carcass 2 feet off the road for all the treehuggers to see? That's just lazy and looks bad for the rest of us.

I saw two next to the gate off hwy 18 too. I love hunting more than anything, and understand its a pain to get rid off the carcass but at least push it into the into the woods 5 feet...Not only is it not what I want to see on my way in to my hunt, but I agree it looks bad to people who already dislike us.. I work for REI (bunny hugger central) and defend hunters all day long every day (I've almost been fired a few times for getting so riled up), I'm sure you could imagine.. But stuff like this makes it tough. A gut pile a mile in the woods is one thing, A boned out carcass 2 feet from the road is another.
