The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

that is pretty awesome.  I killed a raghorn bull once and had a big 6 point bull come and gore him a few times on the ground.  He then bugled and was off chasing the cows

"You aren't so tough any more are you big guy?"

I'm guessing this Smaller buck had gotten his butt kicked earlier by this big buck. Probably didn't help matters that the dead buck had just mounted a doe before he was shot. I'm sure her scent was all over the dead buck and that was probably what set off the young buck.

I had a jake do this to the tom that was still flopping 14 feet from the end of my, still smoking, gun barrel.  Pretty cool.

High power rifle, I'm assuming?  Maybe a little wiser to shoot into the ground instead of the air?  Gun safety only ends when you put your rifle back in the safe.

I had that happen too. Very comical.

Personally, I'll take my chances with my slug falling out of the sky on someone's head over a possible ricochet at close quarters shooting into the ground. But that's just me.
