Finally got my deer
« on: December 22, 2012, 06:48:38 PM »
After busting my butt in the desert and coming home empty handed I finally got me a nice black tail with my bow. Last Saturday my son and I hunted really hard. Just around 3:30 we started heading back towards the truck. Walking through some thick stuff, this guy was just watching us walk by. As we were walking I nocked my arrow and whispered to my son big buck. He was only 10 yards away. I whirled around, aimed, and let go. We heard a big whack. The buck bounced away and we started celebrating. We waited for what I though was forever and then went and checked for blood. Went and got the headlamps. Couldnt find any blood. We decided to leave and come back in the morning. Sunday morning we searched for 4 hours. Still nothing. My gut was in knots.....Went to the same area this morning. A week later. Stumbled over this guy around 10:00. He was just torn to shreds. What a monster. I dont have any meat but I do have this rack

The face and the body where torn to shreds since I found the buck a week later. I did tag the buck.  I covered the face since it was a mangled mess. It had no eyes and the lower jaw was missing.

Nice buck, but if you knew you hit it and you only looked a day and called it quits after 4 hours then came back a week later?

Way to do the honorable thing.  I bet it felt amazing when you finally stumbled on him.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
