Archery blacktail buck 2012
« on: December 24, 2012, 06:09:18 PM »
I almost didn't go out Saturday evening because I only had 45 minutes to hunt but it was worth it.   I  had one foot on the treestand when I saw him movin through the brush. I finnished getting in the tree and then had the Awsome feeling of being in a treestand with a buck at 30 yards and my bow on the ground tied to a string.  Well, amazingly I pulled the bow all the way up with him  only looking at the bow spinning on the string a couple times. When he stomped the ground I was sure he caught my wind. With the wind swirling he was on high alert so I nocked up and drew back. At 20 yards and head on with a slight angle I put the arrow between his neck bone and shoulderblade. He took off and I went home.  Next morning I came back with my 16 month old,  brother and dad. We found the buck 50 yards away, my 85# bowtech took out 1 lung, the diaphram and threw some gut and came out the other side.

How come he has three antlers in the last picture?

The  third antler is a shed I found from him last year. His back  tine gets narrow then rounds to a point, the exact same from the year before.

Cool story and pic. How was the meat leaving him overnight? Anything sour? Just curious.
If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?
