Alaska Rainbows
« on: September 14, 2008, 12:53:03 PM »
Got to fish rainbows last week north of anchorage.  The salmon spawn is winding down but there are still some absolute pigs in these creeks.  Ended the day going 14 for 19 on rainbows.  All the fish that I landed were over 16" the largest was 28."

Most of the rainbows that I got were on flesh.  SInce the salmon spawn is winding down theres more flesh in the river than eggs.  I did get a few on eggs but flesh has been a lot better of late.

The 28 incher is the top pic.  You can see how big it is by comparing the others to it.  That is the same rod in all three pics.

Klick
If you can get up here I would be happy to intorduce you to these rainbows

That's pretty cool.  I'd like to head up there sometime and swing mice flies for those big bows in the spring.  I've heard that's a hoot.
