We just got a Jeep Patriot.  It was about 4k less then the Subaru Forester we were looking at and we get 26 MPG.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

My inlaws have  a 2011 Forester. Mid 20's mpg and enough room to haul her 250 lb. dairy goats around if needed. I drove it a time or 2. At 6'4" there's plenty of room in it for me. It does well in the snow too. They live at 3000'+ in the Blue Mountain foothills.

Jackalope, how is the new Durango holding up maintenance wise?

Not too bad so far. Haven't seen many miles on them yet but so far pretty good. Couple electrical issues here and there. Nothing major.
