Dented brass on FNAR - help
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:54:18 PM »
My friend was shooting his FNAR at the range today, about every other ejected shell had dented necks.  Does anyone know what could be causing this.  I am thinking it is a non issue; however, wanted to see if someone here knows something I do not.

looks like it is just from ejecting and shouldnt be a problem
In this country we have no place for hyphenated Americans.

The mouth makes contact with the receiver on the FNAR as it does on the FAL platform. It's not unusual. The severity of the denting can vary depending on the powder burn rate and the gas regulator setting.

Fairly common with semi-autos.  Even pistol cases can be dented after firing and ejecting.  If you reload, your dies will take the dent out.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Thanks for the timely responses.  I was assuming it was not an issue, will decrease case life though.  Happy new years!

I just ran it through my expanding mandrel and it looks good as new.

Shouldn't affect case life that much, if any.  Brass is pretty forgiving.
