I put out a cam behind the house a few days ago and started getting pictures of this buck.

That was the good news.... The bad news is that my camera was missing. About an hour later one of the neighbors showed up with his two boys (probably 9-10 years old). The boys had seen an antler laying on the ground on my property. They went to pick it up and then saw the camera. They were afraid the camera took their picture so they threw the camera off in the brush. Fortunately, the Dad got to the bottom of the story and they brought my camera and the  shed back to my house. It's refreshing to see parents doing the right thing. I was relieved to learn it was young kids rather than adults. I find it forgivable for young kids to do something like this... these are learning opportunities for youngsters. The day got even better because the side they had picked up in front of my camera was the bucks other side.

We are hoping to train our pup "Booner" to find them in the future. Everyone has to earn their way around our house.

They looked to be 9 or 10 years old. I can definitely understand the allure of that big antler laying there on the ground. I was very pleased with how the Dad handled the situation. We talked to them about trail cameras and why you shouldn't mess with them and we told them they did the right thing for telling their Dad the truth. I know they were nervous.

You're right, DB, that was a good moment for those young men. Being a part of their education is an honor. At that age I had a  "few" of those moments. :chuckle:

Nope, it was just last year's pics.  No newspaper in the photo, then it was a setup.  Same as no pics: didn't happen.  :chuckle:
