One hell of a day
« on: January 02, 2013, 12:12:20 AM »
Today I had my shotgun in my hand in the duck blind. 2 mallards had their wings fixed I was standing at the time I lifted my gun up and I lean a bit and crack!! The hinge on the door broke. The door me and my gun go underwater break the little bit of ice their with my fall my gun slides a little a breaks thru the ice I spent the next 45 mine in the water digging into 6-12 inches of soupy mud digging for my gun. I was beyond pissed the whole time my hunting partners were laughing. When I got it back to the shore I opened the slide rinsed out the gun and barrel and hunted the rest of the day. We got 7 birds. Good thing I have a 870.

Rem 870s will take just about anything. My SBEII went on a 20yd swim w/me a few weekends ago then my lab knocked it off my blind bag a week later at high tide while I was going 10-100. A good duck gun has got to take some abuse and still go bang.

I have seen a few 870's used as paddles over the years.  A good multi purpose gun.
Cut em!
