Yakamas dont a few do though, its really up to the person doing it,  :o
I've seen them skinned out when I was younger looked freaky to me looked a lot like someone hanging upside down :o
The closed area is loaded with them, see a lot of fresh sign when the first snow hits

What's the closed area time?

A lummi island buddy of mine hunts em, no limit, year round for them (as far as I recall). He has taken 1 bear last year in the snow...just kind of got into it.

The quinalts do.  If your rich and like to give them money go for it, I've heard it can be good?
When they realized the amount of damage they were doing, they opened it to the tribes to hunt the bears on their lands and nobody tried it. Too much work I guess?  :dunno: Thats when they decided to let the natives guide others and help kill bears. Ive been on 3 separate trips up there. Killed a 200 pounder and then an hour later my uncle killed a 315 pound bear in the same stand. 20 inch skull too. Ive seen 5 bears killed up there and it is an absolute thrill. If you ever get the chance to do it, take it. if Seeing bears at 10 yards doesnt get your blood pumping, i dont know what will? within arms reach maybe? A bear climbing into the tree stand with you? Ive had it all happen up there. lots of fun

Some Colvilles do. I use dogs to hunt them it is pretty fun. Nothing like hearing the dogs work a track.

My wife and I were in the White River tree farm last Feb. looking for sheds and there were a group running dogs . They said they were bear hunting , didn't ask what tribe . We didn't tell them that we saw there dogs and the cat they were trailing . As soon as the cat saw my wife it high tailed the other direction.

Funny story about the quinaults.  My wife and I were hanging out at the Sea Star in Pacific Beach a couple years ago.  There were quite a few quinaults in the bar (rough crowd, actually).  One of them was apparently a guide.  He showed my wife a picture he carries around in his pocket and was completely butt-hurt when my wife did recognize that it was Uncle Ted in the photo.  He couldn't believe she wasn't impressed.

Probably was the mucks, they have put some money into running cat in the past. One year they spent about 15 grand on a dog and they ran it over in the watershed and killed it. At least 11 tribes hunt the white river area but I think the muck's are the one's mostly running dogs for bears and cats. They hunt a lot for them in the green river shed.

I would guess that it is only closed to those whites that want to stay out?  A lot of land on that "closed" area I'd say.  But yep, I have heard that there is a lot of blackies up there on that there Mountain.

I wonder what the yakima's would think if us non natives went to this special place and shot a truck load of big game? I myself think the wintering grounds for our deer and elk are special places that need to be left alone.  :twocents: So where exactly is this special place!!!

I've seen Tulalip bait barrels over near snoqualmie pass. My buddy was charged by a sow with 2 cubs about a 1/4 mile away from that barrel
