Thanks mods!  For what it's worth, as a new waterfowl hunter this year, I've learned a bit from this board and find it one of the better moderated boards out there.  Some other boards I lurk on are ridiculous...

For those who are thanking the mods.... Thank you very much. Sometimes it gets old to try to keep the place up, and take a bit of negative commentary. We care about the site as much or more as many on here.

Thank you....for the thank you!

I have to say that you guys stay on top of it pretty good cause I have not seen allot of negative stuff, I am glad since even people that do not hunt can see what is posted on this site

I think you guys so a good job!

What does this have to do with water foul?  :dunno:

The original post is to warn members that the out of line posts will not be tolerated. This board (Waterfowl) is one of the worst for us to moderate because no one wants to be civil in here.
:yeah: Us waterfowlers just hate each other I guess  :dunno: :chuckle:

It's the conditions you guys hunt in, think about it. You hope for bad weather, rain snow, wind, slogging in mud, water, cat tails, and brush of all kinds, freezing you arss off. If I hunted in the crappy weather all the time I would be short tempered all the time after wasting the kind of cash you all spend on shells, decoys, boats, guns, hunt clubs you name it. And come home with one duck or none sometimes, yes I see the pictures some of you have more skills than others.
Yes I have duck hunted, in EA WA when I was young, they would appear when hunting ring necks on creeks and flooded fields, but not this wet side crap.

With all that said, have fun waterfowlers, and be nice to each other.  :chuckle:

Wouldn't all west side hunters fit the profile of guys that hunt in crappy weather :chuckle:

:yeah: This waterfowl board is fairly tame compared to some others I'm on. The mods do a far better job on this site and I'm thankful for it as ultimately I get more out of the site.

Since i'm a waterfowl-er that doesn't visit this part of the forum much anymore, I would say that you have Few reasons why its a rough board. 1st is that much of the public land is combat hunting. Nothing makes a fun trip a steaming pile of crap like having some one  set up in your back pocket shooting your birds on the swing. You get to "the spot" first and either the person is too ignorant or lazy to move along. I have wrapped up many a hunting trip because of some ignoramus. The last reason I have a hard time with some of these guys is "sometimes" you can have people spaced 200-300 yards apart and everyone has some courtesy. Usually there is one jack wagon that will shoot at birds 100 yards in the air "pass shooting". Pass shooting has its place in the sport, and i enjoy a pass shoot, however i don't mail them in when i got people around me...

Those acts seem to get under peoples skin more than other kinds of hunting and seem to transfer over to conversation. Also Because LOCATION can overcome inexperience many people feel the need to be a D-Bag.  :twocents:

Could not explain it much better.  I will add there are some that hunt waterfowl because they love to stir up drama in the field and think its funny to mess up someones day.  Also makes people think twice about going to the same location after some bad memories.  I will admit it has worked on me once gas and time is wasted due to rude tactics from other blinds, I find it harder to get out of a warm bed the next time.  Also hunting on the weekends is very rare for me in todays hunting world.

I quit duck hunting for over three years due to being sick of the public land drama.
I now have a friend that has a boat and duck hunting is allot less stressful now

I think it's the season length of the season that drives us nuts. Think about the hardcore big game guys, they hunt a week or two a year? I do that and add 70 to 80 waterfowl days. That's a lot if time in the field to deal with other peoples bs. Throw over crowding and sky busting in...... Add the prostaff, and band hunters and you can see where a rift starts. We are simply a different breed.

I still go a few times a year with my boy and my dogs on private land. It's all about quality and not quantity anymore. Public land hunting wasn't too bad 10 years or so ago but now it's definitely turned into a competitive combat a-hole sport that i refuse to be a part of. Waterfowl forums basically just reflect the problem which does more harm than good for us and our hunting livelihood.
