Anybody use the badlands OX?

I would take a used Dana design frame ( about the same $ as a new ox) over the ox any day. You can still find them on ebay .What is your use of the pack going to be ? just the pack out, or in and out?

In and out. I like the external frame just not sure of going external or internal? For 500 bones I wanted to see what others say about it.

I've never personally used the pack you speak of, but for a lot less money a used Dana Designs Terraframe is very very hard to beat.  If you can find one in decent shape for under $250 it would be well worth it.  In the last three years I have thrown some extremely heavy weights at this pack and it has worked flawless.

My only complaint is when wearing it in the timber or brush the top bar catches on stuff.

This dana designs you speak of how much storage does it have for your gear? How is it for comfort?

6100 cu. In.  I really like the layout.  One big top loading bag.  A lower pocket for sleeping bag and two long external pockets.  It also has two pockets in the lid.

It is very comfortable with 50-60 lbs.  It handles weight great and the suspension allows you to put the weight right where you want.

At $500, you're getting very close to the price for a new Kifaru pack, and I've never heard anybody that owns one say that they wish they'd gone with a different pack.  Kifaru just came out with a new design, and lots of people are selling their older packs to buy a new one, so there are some real good deals on used packs right now as well.  Check these out.....

I am doing pack research as well. 

I can say that I did try this pack on at the Sportsman show and was really impressed.  Its kinda on the heavy side yes,  but its built like a tank, from what I saw.  I talked with the sales guy for quite a while, went through the whole thing 3 times over.  Then I wanted to feel weight on it and they had nothing.  I sinched the pack up , and the sales man (5'8,  150lb) climbed up the pack and I walked around the Sportsman show with him on my back like he weighed 60lbs.   Granted I am in good shape but I am no Arnold.  To say the least it was impressive.

I have no doubts that this pack would get your meat and all of camp back to the truck with out too much hastle.

I dont have much high country experience , and I owe Badlands nothing.

I would like to demo the Kifarus though before I spend $400.

I have an Oregon Pack Works orion and I like it a lot you can try there pack out before you buy one also just another option to check out

bought the Ox pack & frame for pack in/on your back hunts.

sold the Eberlestock.
I did like it though but not as much for loads. Or carrying game meat AND camp.

love the OX, heavy loads no problem. Best Pack I've used. Make sure you get the size to fit your torso length.
I like that once set up in high country, pack can come off the frame easily and smaller pack & frame used for day hunt. Perhaps I like an adjustable, exterior pack frame.

Do you notice much noise when the pack frame rubs against tree limbs and brush? Can you pull back a bow with it on?
