Illegal Wolf releases
« on: January 05, 2013, 08:11:52 PM »
Wolfbait and other :tinfoil: were lying to all of us about wolves being released. Hmmmm Ooops here is Earth First a Green terrorist group admitting to it!  :bash:

We Support the Covert Release of Large Predators Into The Eastern United States

A red wolf awaiting reintroduction to the East Coast.

While we often talk about the illegality of eco-sabotage, we rarely talk about the potential for illegal restoration. Some of the laws involved, such as the Endangered Species Act, are, on the surface, there to protect these animals. We, as ordinary civilians, are told we lack the training and the jurisdiction to release such animals into the wild, but in the absence of official action we support the responsible transfer of predators back into their former homelands, without waiting for the approval of the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

The only thing I see them admit to is supporting it. I admit I skimmed over the article so maybe I missed something.

I bet if they do practice this they kill more animals than they release. It takes a lot of training to keep an animal alive under sedation. I am sure there are some rouge groups out there, but most are too much of a weenie to risk the penalties that would come from transporting an endangered species around.  :twocents:

Most of those claims were that WDFW was covertly releasing wolves. I had a hard time buying into that. I think it was more likely that some wolf group or individual wolf lovers were releasing wolves or hybrids in Washington.

Earth first is just like Earth Liberation Front.  They "SUPPORT" illegal activities. Which loosely translated means they a don't directly get their hands dirty but they provide a lot of support. With as hokey as the wolf process has been, if you don't think there have been some turned heads, side deals etc made i think that you suffer from wishful thinking...

I doubt they would attempt to catch, transport and release wild wolves. They would just release captive raised wolves into the wild.

There are so few red wolves left that I doubt they could find any to move.  As for cougars... release them! :)  I would love to see a few of them in the East.

My buddy back home told me a lion was spotted or hit by a car or something, I can't remember exactly. He was called out to look as the person that saw it or whatever called the cops. This was in the last couple months on the Catskill mountains in NY.

:yeah:  Exactly correct.  Most of the disagreements have been with those that claimed the WDFW, the USFWS, NPS and mainstream groups like wolfhaven have planted wolves.

What fringe groups do illegally was never much of a debate, because there really isn't much to debate.

Yes, agreed. The details in my head are sketchy. I know a lion was seen in one way, shape or form back east.
LOL.

If they can release wolves I think we should all go capture some moose and release them on the west side (Nooksack River or St Helens area) and help spread the moose population!

We wetsiders would love that! Just think it out beforehand, as transporting a moose may require vehicle mods.

Please do, there are way to many here on the eastside.  :chuckle:
