HuntWA 2008 Bear Hunting Poll
« on: September 16, 2008, 05:13:17 PM »
Seems like a lot of bears are hitting the ground this year and the rifle deer/elk seasons haven't even started yet when a lot are killed as incidentals. I am curious as to how many bears have been taken by members of this site and how many are first time bear hunters. It will also be nice to know who to remind to check with F&G on the age analysis come next spring.

You will be allowed to vote up to 3 times and you may change your vote if you need to.

I spent this last weekend hunting bear. I will not likely be going out again just for bear. If I happen to see one while deer/elk hunting I will shoot.

I let a 300 pounder walk day before yesterday.  A true one too.  Probably should have nailed him but just too far to pack.

Here's my dink. Bone do you think he was a real 300  :chuckle:

First one got away after I stuck it with the longbow. 2nd time was a charm. Sucks to lose a bear though.  :bash:

Got 1 May 9th which I already bragged about on this forum.  It was the 4th since started hunt'in them about 15 yrs ago!  Saw one a week ago behind Arlington that measured about 24" nose to tail, wasn't interested, besides momma would have run down my bike & kicked my old butt.

OH! Almost forgot.  Was over on the other side of the Hood Canal last weekend trying for a Blackie (Pope Timber Co are good guys w/open gates for modern firearms).  The blue (or black-I dunno) huckleberries were go'in wild.  Saw some fresh, coke can sized bear turds stained huckleberry color.  Just a word to the interested.  0545 ferry gets you in place way before 1st lite.  See ya over there for the late season!

I got out 3 times after a supposed big RED bear, he was seen a couple times but not by me, I did see his fair sized track. I seen a RED bear and did a stalk on him years ago up in B.C. A true RED must be very rare, what a beautifully pair of chaps that would make.

Killed two this year, same as every other year.  Seen a ton more this year than in years past.  Many 100 to 150 pounders out there.  Looks like the future of bear hunting is great looking.
