Here is why most mags are "expensive". Places like Midway buy direct and sell they will likely take a back order and you take your chances. MAYBEE you need them NOW! your going on a Prairy dog hunt, or just want to "make sure" you have a couple more... There are middle men, wholesale distributors, who buy and sell to make sure that production gaps are filled. THEY HAVE TO MAKE $$$ so they mark up a little extra because they invested in inventory. The shops they sell too know the prices are high, but they want to at least make them available, so they mark the up the same amount and sell them.  So who is gouging who? Manufacture? nope they are charging nearly the same and working 24/7 to make as many as they can. Middle men? They invested $$$ in all kinds of inventory too help keep product on the shelves, and distribute to smaller shops. Are they Gouging because They can get more now? Sounds like a good investment to me... Retailer.. Is trying to maye sure you have the OPTION to buy it even if the price is high. There is likely more freight and more effort finding lining up product for their customers. Are they entitled to a little more $ for going the extra mile?

When the price of gold started going through the roof, was that considered price gouging? Just curious...

All this talk of price gouging almost makes me laugh, but it's really not very funny.

Glad you were able to get your hands on a few.
Where's the Wall Street pit for P-Mags?
P-Mag futures?
Settlement requirements?
Delivery requirements?
Can I hold P-Mags in an IRA?
Do Govt-Issued P-Mags have higher value than the raw P-Mags?
Are local dealers buying P-Mag scrap and melting it down and purifying for re-sale/re-use?

Uh, new guy over her in the corner again, with another question... :hello: :hello:

Where has all the anger towards "price gouging" been hiding out for the last 18 years?  I mean, EBay started in 1995, and has been selling things to the highest bidder ever since.  Isn't that "gouging" too?   :dunno:

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

In my family its common to visit relatives a week before or after the holidays due to the higher airfares.

And here this time I didn't realize that they were "price gouging."  :bash:

no that is an auction that is different...price gouging is using an opportunity created by a disaster or perceived disaster to jack up pricing based on an artificially created increased market demand..... this current craze is based on the idea that they will take these things from us, we dont actually know this will happen its all conjecture and fear and the fear is being used to get people to run around and spend money they dont have buying things they probably do not need......

I don't see it as price gouging. An assault rifle, or whatever you wish to call it, is not a necessity. It's not something that you have to buy just to survive, like food and gasoline. I don't own an AR-15 and I haven't had the urge to suddenly go out and buy one. The people who are buying them now, are buying them because they want them, not because they need them.

My view is that supply and demand should establish prices in a competitive market. If I can sell all my widgets for $5, why I should sell them at $4?  If I can sell all of them at $5 and make an excessive profit, another company will start doing the same thing, which creates competition and increased supply, which pushes the price down.

I would wonder about a company in business for profit that deliberately sells their product for less than the market allows.

I consider it free enterprise, not price gouging. :twocents:

The less _______ there are and the less chance I have to replace my ________, the more I want for my _______ and the less likely I would be willing to get rid of my ________ at a low price.  Not price gouging.

I correct my kids every time they say something isn't "fair".  In fact, I hate when I hear someone say that something isn't "fair".  Respectfully, I think the people who are always pointing the "price gouging" finger are the ones always saying something isn't "fair".

I hope that I buy nothing from some of you because when this is over the people that get my money in the future are the ones that treat me fair no matter what the timing is.

If you choose to buy something from someone, it must be a fair price, or you wouldn't have bought it, right? Stuff sells for whatever people are willing to pay, and whatever that price is, is the FAIR price.
