Fawns are out
« on: June 06, 2024, 07:29:55 PM »
This little guy is waiting for mama to return. And I’m a prisoner in my house waiting for her to come and get him.

Went out to water my lettuce this morning and accidentally jumped two very small fawns that the doe had stashed near some bushes. Yours is obeying instructions.....lie there and be still. My pair took off like they were fully grown. Assume the doe can pick up their scent trail. Odd that she would leave him in a driveway......few years ago, I saw one in a narrow ditch next to a road where lots of cars and people walking dogs pass close by.

Have moved many out of harms way.  Might be a good idea for this one.  Is there a twin about?  Unlikely the doe would have issues.

If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Lots of them here in Ocean Shores.  Fun to see the bucks quickly growing their headgear also.  On my evening walk yesterday, I passed within 10' of 4 nice bucks that looked like they'll all be at least 3 points.  They couldn't care less that I was there.  I've petted them in the past  :chuckle:

After about an hour it moved to be under my blueberry bushes. And when I went down this morning it was gone so mama came back over night.

There was no risk to the fawn at that part of my driveway.
