I thought executive order could not be used to modify or change the constitution.
That is correct.
Do you believe that matters to him?

It will when it goes to the Supreme court.
With the possibility that he could be naming as many as 3 to the Supreme Court in the near future I am not so sure. I am sure that alot of the things he is doing or proposing doing are frightening at best.

& i bet he has all the assets ( experts, lawyers, judges etc..& even psychologists) in play at this time finding ways around the hurdles he may face or formulating a plan  to implement his agenda a little at a time, quietly.
for instance if "this" happens at this time that opens "this" door which will result in me being able to do "this" kind of thing.

All these people with their heads in the sand these last four years saying "this will never happen" "that will never happen" are going to be standing around looking like  :yike: pretty soon.

The Supreme Court would never find Obamacare constitutional either huh..........and now with Obama potentially appointing 3 more liberals to the court these people are still saying "oh that can never happen".

Biden talked also about taking responsible action. "As the president said, if you're actions result in only saving one life, they're worth taking.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

How about eliminating tax dollars funding Planned Parenthood, how many lives will that save Joe?

Here are some letter responses from Representatives in Washington.

Dear Mr. Hills,

Thank you for contacting me to share your views regarding Second Amendment rights and related legislation. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this matter and welcome the opportunity to respond.

Over the course of the last year, the United States has witnessed tragic shooting events in several parts of the country, including the most recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. In response, some have called for legislation to address the online sale of ammunition as well as the possession of ammunition feeding devices. As you may know, several related measures were introduced in the 112th Congress. Rest assured, should these measures come before the House of Representatives for a vote, I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind and give them thorough consideration.

I share your concern about gun violence in America. This difficult issue requires a thoughtful approach and consideration of many related issues, including the services available to those suffering from mental illness. Please know that I am already working with my colleagues on how we can address these issues, including increasing school safety. In a previous Congress, I offered an amendment that would have authorized resources to enhance and improve school safety by modernizing and upgrading school technology and infrastructure to ensure schools are properly prepared for the unthinkable (H.R. 2187). We have an obligation as Americans to make sure that our nation's youth are protected from harm's way - these heart-breaking tragedies must be stopped.

As a law enforcement officer for 33 years, I realize in a very personal sense just how dangerous weapons are in the wrong hands. I am concerned about the violence that results from criminal use of firearms and the incidence of criminal possession of firearms. However, I believe the best way to deal with crime is not to limit the availability of firearms to law-abiding citizens, but to enforce our laws to ensure that criminals do not obtain weapons in the first place and are penalized for their misuse. These criminals must be held accountable to our laws.

I believe Congress has a responsibility to ensure that legislation holds up to constitutional scrutiny, and I am a strong defender of the Second Amendment, which permits citizens to keep and bear arms. As we move forward into the 113th Congress, my colleagues in Congress and I must come together in a bipartisan manner to help find effective solutions to prevent these horrible tragedies from ever occurring without violating the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to get in touch with me.  Your interest and input are valued, and I hope to hear from you in the future regarding other matters of importance.  I encourage you to visit my website and sign-up for my monthly e-newsletter at http://reichert.house.gov to learn more about other issues impacting the 8th Congressional District and our nation. You can also follow my work online and receive frequent updates on legislation being considered in Congress by visiting me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/davereichert) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/repdavereichert).

Sincerely,

David G. Reichert
Member of Congress

Dear Jayson:

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for Second Amendment rights. I appreciate you making me aware of your views on this issue.

Let me begin by saying that my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families affected by the tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. In the wake of tragic acts of gun violence such as this, there have been attempts in Congress to enact additional gun laws. However, I cannot in good conscience vote to impose unnecessary restrictions on law-abiding citizens who legally own guns or who want to obtain them through legal means. There are more than 20,000 federal, state and local firearms laws in place to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms, and our focus should be on diminishing gun-related crime through strict enforcement of existing gun laws - rather than on imposing further restrictions on law-abiding citizens.

I am committed to protecting the freedoms and rights that were guaranteed by the United States Constitution. We are guaranteed all of the rights set forth in the Constitution. None is any less precious than another. Please rest assured that I will continue to support measures to ensure the rigorous enforcement of our existing guns laws, and oppose misguided efforts to undermine our Constitutional rights.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so in the future on any matter of importance to you.

Sincerely,

Doc Hastings
Member of Congress

Bravo Jayson!

The 12th district is fortunately a pro-American district at this point. While a handful of folks are demanding gun control, the majority shares your opinion of reactionary politics.

While I believe the bulk of this will be debated on the federal level, I will do all I can to make sure we stop any such "protections" at the State House.  You may want to contact your federal representatives to let them know how you feel. Their contact information is below.

These types of issues are handled by the federal government, not the state. I would urge you to contact those who represent you at the federal level, Congressman Richard "Doc" Hastings or Dave Reichert and your U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell since they oversee federal operations and agencies.

Here are some links on how to contact them:

https://reichert.house.gov/contact-me

http://hastings.house.gov/Contact.aspx

http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/

http://murray.senate.gov/email/index.cfm

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is something at the state level we can help you with.

CARY CONDOTTA

12th District Representative

It doesn't matter to Obama whether this is constitutional or not. He believes he is above the Constitution. That is why I refer to him at tyrannical and a despot. His actions are precisely why we have the 2nd Amendment - to overthrow tyranny. This the tyranny that the founding fathers fought against. He is the new King George. Oppose the despot, resist those who defy the Constitution.
Does he actually think we will stand by and remain quiet? Does he not understand that some of us are willing to resist and defy any executive order of this magnitude. We must stand beside the weapons manufacturers that will be desperately hurt by such an order, the thousands of people that will be thrown out of work, the resellers, the retailers, the scope of this is unprecedented. The time to create a firestorm of resistance and opposition is BEFORE the order is issued. We need to let the administration know - don't do this or else! We are the citizen soldiers the amendment refers to. I am reminded of the great quote by Barry Goldwater: "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
Warning! Do not elect politicians who don't support the 2nd Amendment as the Constitutional framers intended - There are no Collective Rights in the Bill of Rights. America is about Individual Freedoms, not collectivism!

That is correct.
Do you believe that matters to him?
It will when it goes to the Supreme court.
He has the odds on his side since only 2 Executive Orders have ever been overturned by SCOTUS in US history.
And Congress wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, it would be political suicide.  Not to mention it takes a super majority vote to overturn.

There is another side to the 2nd Amendment. It is the Holy Symbol of individual freedom. Freedom, from being told what you will do, where to go, what to eat, and how to think. It is that, I believe he is really after. Some people love to be told and controlled. Others, they love to tell people what they will do and how they will do it. Another group of people reject Authority. In particular, they reject those who try to impose authority they do not have a legal reason to impose.  :twocents:

I think this illistrates that the demcroates are playing Chess and the republicans checkers. Dems tend to play the game much better.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
