I used a Black Diamond for a season or two, seemed to be a good shooter. I would hunt with one again.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

i've owned my tc xr 50 cal for 12 years now. it's been a great gun. i use it to hunt elk in western washington. never had a misfire ( i better knock on wood now). just like all muzzleloaders, keep it dry and clean.

Never any problems for me, always goes bang and hits where I tell it. Just wished I would have used a rangefinder couple elk seasons ago

Buy it, I love mine. Where are you buying it??? I would buy two if you can, they quit making them a few years ago I thought? If they have more than one for sale, PLEASE let me know. Thanks. Put a Williams peep site on it, it's much better than the stock fiber sites.

Love mine. I was getting 3 inch groups at 100 yds using stock sights. 348 grain powerbelts and 3-50 grain pellets.

No issue with mine.     It's as accurate as my eyes are.

Pretty easy take down (except the breech plug - which I never take out).

I have and or do own the following:
Black diamond xr
Black diamond
Black diamond express

Never once had a miss fire of any kind with any of the above.  I have sworn more than once they would probably lite off with vegetable oil poured down them!  I haven't tried it but I have been thinking about it.

Buy with confidence.

That's what I shot my deer with this last season! Love it, except for the fact that I didn't get the stainless version.

Not trying to jack this thread, but what would be the going price for a used one of these from a coworkers husband in good condition.  i have the opportunity if i want it to by a used one (not the XR) it is blued, comes with pyrodex pellets, approx 20 bullets (not sure what type), all the cleaning stuff and a tube of bore butter and the person is asking $300.  is this a good deal?

I wouldn't say that's a good deal. They sold for about $300 new. Heck I only paid $180 for mine when Cabelas had a clearance sale. It's a fair price though, if that's the particular gun you're looking for.

no, i am not partial to any particular muzzy as i am looking for my first one.  pretty fed up with the modern seasons here so am looking to expand my opportunities by switching to muzzy.  Was hoping that the last few gun shows would produce a good deal, but it didnt pan out.  Based off what i have read on the site not to may people think highly about the entry level offerings from Traditions or CVA (which around here are about $179), but i also am trying to buy on a budget so pretty much anything over $300 is just not to realistic for me, would prefer to stay around $200.

I have a Black Diamond XR which I use for deer and elk. Excellent rifle, I've shot many animals with this rifle out to 175 yards. I have it sighted in at 100 yds, and would typically not take a shot too much further than that...Except for the one day I miss judged my distance.  :chuckle:

I have a 45 cal. I like it, but keep it clean... accuracy goes away completely after 4 shots or thereabouts.

Looking to trade mine for a good chainsaw...
