The doe the dead buck was breeding just before being shot must have been the other ones sister.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Bizarre!
I had something similar to this happen, but for I believe for different reasons. I downed a four point, he had a two point and a doe along with him. It was in a heavy wind and snow storm, I dropped the four point quick. The doe and two point didn't even flinch. As if they didn't hear the shot. The two point walked about 25 yrds. then came running back to the downed deer and kept locking horns and messing with him. I walked up to the downed deer and proceeded to dress him out, the two point and doe stuck around within 25Yrds watching me the whole time. never bothered them that I was there. This was quite a ways back in the pasayten.

Yep. Happended to a buck of mine in Oregon once. The younger one had his moment of victory and then mounted a doe standing close by.

Only with turkeys!  That is wild!

I think it was my second buck in Colorado. . . We spotted two bucks across the canyon at about 375 yards, and they were fighting.  Both were borderline shooters for the unit we hunt, and it actually took what seemed like a few minutes to decide which one was bigger.  Well, when they separated I dropped the bigger of the two.  The one he was fighting with just walked circles around him, and finally walked off.  I'm sure he was thinking 'I sure kicked his butt!' (I hope that word is still allowed on here! If not . .  :sry:)  He never did actually go horn my downed buck, but this made me think of this hunt.
