"Gun Violence has Plummeted since 1993" DOJ
« on: January 09, 2013, 08:35:25 AM »
This is my morning FaceBook post:

It's interesting that the US Dept. of Justice website section on gun violence starts with the statement that "Gun violence has plummeted sincE 1993". It goes to further show that murder is down and injuries are down due to firearms.

The cries that we must do something and it needs to start with gun control are alarmist and untrue. The fact is that our government established gun-free zones to the delight of mass murderers is a problem that can be easily solved. Eliminate them. Train teachers who own guns already how to safely possess them at school and when or if to use them.

This may sound extreme, but history shows differently. Up until about 20 years ago when feely goody politicians said "we must do something about gun violence", they created these gun-free zones. Not only has it not helped our kids, it's harmed them. We see the results from Columbine and Sandy Hook Elementary, and in the gun-free theater in Aurora, Co.. Wackos know that gun-free zones are a safe haven for them to commit their horrendous acts. Shortly after gun-free zones were established, an "assault weapons" ban was enacted in 1996. It existed for 8 years when, after examining the data and determining that it had absolutely no effect on gun crimes, it was rescinded by a large majority vote of Congress. They realized then that criminals don't obey laws. It's no different today.

And just as they ignore the limits of gun-free zones, criminals and insane people will ignore gun controls. Gun controls subvert our 2nd Amendment, a protection of the people against harm, and penalize only those willing to follow the law. Criminals, by their nature, ignore laws and gun laws will be no different. They'll steal them, buy them on the black market, and do anything they can to possess them regardless of law, and then use them to hurt good people.

We need to penalize the people responsible for committing these acts, not the 330,000,000 other Americans who don't. Liberty brings with it personal responsibility. It is never just to penalize our entire citizenry for the acts of a very few. Oppose gun-free zones, oppose criminals, but do not oppose law-abiding citizens and remove their rights. It makes zero sense. 330,000,000 people killed no one yesterday.

People need to write their representatives to counter the propaganda that’s running rampant out there.  It’s fast and easy by using this tool:

the anti gun crowd does not care about numbers or facts, they are simply anti gun....whats that, most common statement, we always here them use:...."I just don't know why somebody needs one of those".  Even if there was no gun violence, they would still be against guns.

Perception is reality, and if you ask the average person on the street, "do you think gun violence is out of control" i would bet that atleast 75 percent would say: Yes, I'ts because they are ignorant and could careless about facts. They are simply influenced by what they see on TV and hear from their friends.

The fact that gun violence has been going down year after year after year, for decades matters not to them.

am i the only one that believes this is about control and power and not about gun violence? i may be wrong but you say i told you so when it doesnt happen, but taking our guns away has nothing to do about violence, gun violence is just a tool they are using to convince people that guns need to be taken away, in the end it is about the ability for our government to do whatever they want without the people having a voice at all!

You're not the only one.  I don't think this is about guns, well not for the majority.  It is a political vendetta.  The Democratic Party knows there are many single issue voters, in this case guns. With guns being removed from the issues, they can reduce the number of gun lobby groups that give political 'recommendations'.  Gives a better chance of establishing a single party government in the country.

i also agree, i do not believe its about guns as well, its a power play....in the long term it simply disarms the opposition so that one day, a single party can rule. i don't even think they are aware of why they are doing it, its probably genetic.

No it's not about gun violence, but it is still about taking away our freedoms.

No, you're not the only one. That's why our fight is so important. It is about disarming the people so that the few can hold more power.
