Good luck on the hunt! The eagle caps have to be some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever hunted, we are heading over their this year rifle deer hunting. Saw some dandy bulls over there in 2011 on our deer hunt.

That is what we like to hear. It would be awesome to shoot a stud bull but my goal is to just get in to them at least a few days and get my dad on some rutting bulls. I am fine shooting a cow or a raghorn to get some meat in the freezer.

My dad keeps texting me after he gets done shooting his bow and every time he ends with "this is so cool".  :IBCOOL: He is only shooting from 10 yards for now but he says that at 10 yards he is hitting about the size of a half dollar with all his shots so I think he is well on his way. He is also hiking every day that he is in not traveling for work. He is very motivated and that makes me really happy because he is 59 years old and I want to soak in every chance I can to hunt with him. You never know what tomorrow might bring.
:tup:He's ready for 20! Then 30!

Right now I am having him start at 10 then move out to 20 for a few shots. I want to get him confident in what he is doing and also build up strength

Are you going on a drop camp or are you packing in yourself ? .

We are doing a supplied drop camp so we are really excited. It will be my dad's first adventure with the stick and string

Vanderman, which outfitter did you go with?  We did a Drop camp for rilfe deer a few years ago with Shawn Steen

We are going with Moss Springs outfitters. How was your trip when you went?

I have talked to the Moss Springs guy before at a Sportsmans Show, I was impressed and I like the "Area" they pack into.  We were in the Indian Crossing portion, 10 miles in, saw lots of elk, but the mule deer were another 5-6 further in we found out after many hikes.  I passed on alot of smaller bucks and ate my tag.  I would do it again though in a different area.

That makes me feel good that you liked what you heard from them and the "area" they pack in to. I can't wait to saddle up the horses and get the adventure under way. I have my fingers crossed that we get the weather I am hoping for. It will be full moon towards the end of the week we are there so I am hoping for cloudy conditions, at least at night.
