fishing outside of clarkston advise

im looking for some advise on how people go after steelhead on the snake,from the bank...seems like everything ive read on the net so far is with a bober/jig ?? ive nev bober fished before for so im not sure on the set up/technique..back home i usually use a spin glow with sand shrimp bout a few feet off the bottom an pretty close to the bank..will this work on the snake too ??

any specific info/pics on set ups and techniques will be very much appreciated :tup:

also any info for sturgeon would be nice too

you might try running to the bottom of the wawawai rd from wsu. usually a bobber/jig, bobber/bait show at the boat launch area. the fish always seemed to come in tight to the WA shoreline there. Be on the look out for the WSU womens crew team to show up during the day. I miss those days of when my son attended!!! Usually some regulars with info down there/friendly. Good luck/dress warm.

with bobber how deep do ya "typically" run your bait ??? or is it just hit or miss an change set ups pending where the fish are ?? split shot lead ?? ive met a few good ol boys down there while yote hunting an im sure theyd be stoked to help me once i get down there...i just need to know what all i need to buy to avoid wasting my precious gas money lol

Get some bucktail jigs, blacks and purples and probably about 1/4 oz.  Get some shrimp, and some scent oils, and some slip bobbers.  Run your jig anywhere from 6-10 feet below your bobber, you'll have to play with different depths and see what is working on that particular day.  Also, you' don't always want to fish as far as you can cast.  Lots of fish are caught pretty close to shore.

2 feet off bottom usually works for me  :twocents: I usually fish just up from the confluence on the clearwater though.  Fished waiwai twice with no luck, but i've heard of people doing well down there
