A good friend was over from Idaho doing a job interview this weekend and was able to join me on a trap run this morning. The Lord blessed us this a.m. and we still have more to check.

The one on the left weighed 62 lbs. Didn't weigh the other but he was 50+.

Those beavers are big enough to wear tavern jackets!

For sure there will be a class at our Rendezvous in July. Nothing else scheduled at this time.

Another interesting surprise on the trap line this week. This is one of my most productive mink cages. It wreaks of mink. Twice this week while baited with a skinned out rat I've caught a muskrat in it. With it smelling so bad like mink and baited with a muskrat, I find this odd.

Muskrats are attracted to muskrat meat. Always been that way.

yep set a few cages specifically for rats a couple weeks ago with rat carcass.  Put the cage in a beaver  dig out hole right at the water creek caught two rats in one check with four traps.  the ones in the marsh did not work for me probably because I picked them off in colonies before they could get caught. Going east again this week to visit daughter and will try a few traps..very few but want to try a float set at this time of year.

Colony traps will catch anything! Todays odd catch..... a bullfrog. Jase Robertson would be jealous. :chuckle: Forgot to take a pic. I did video it and it will be on the trapping video I made throughout the year. I'm hoping to post the vids in a couple of months.

Yea, I had a grouse sitting in one of my bobcat sets the other day. I guess he figured I didn't have enough bait. :chuckle: Had a heck of a time getting it to leave also. Opened the door, wouldn't leave. Tipped the trap up and it hung on for dear life. Finally had to reach in and pick it up and set it outside the trap. What did it do? It runs back in the trap. Finally had to pack it down the road a way to release it.

You may be a stronger man than me, Bruce. I don't know if I could have passed up such a delicious by catch.
