people on the ice at Moses LAKE
« on: January 16, 2013, 10:49:49 AM »
Just two, that is 2, days after the re-freeze and there are folks out on the ice off I-90.  I'd love to know the ice thickness, but am not willing to walk out and ask! Anyone know the thickness of the ice here in Moses?

I dont know how thick it is, 2' is to thin for me :chuckle: but there where more perch in there this year than i have seen in years and they were dandies. I was fishing for walleye and getting 6 to 8 that were running in the 14" range each trip that I kept and lots more smaller 8 to 12" that we tossed back. Nice to see there is plenty of food to keep the walleye fat.

I was on CDA today having lunch at Beverly's and was amazed there was not ice in the marina.  Be careful.

Blah I wish that lake would ice over, I want to try ice fishing on it.  Guess I'll just have to wait a couple weeks when there's no ice and fish for the perch on the bridge for those big perch.

JUST A FYI,I think their gonna start caracking down on the fishing off the bridge,if your refering to the I90 one. They have a dock theyre building and I think its going in so no one can fish the freeway

Can remember being a punk kid and taking my mom's Fleetwood and my buddies mom's Bonneville out on the ice doing broadies  at the south end.  that was in the 70's,  I'd like to believe I'm much smarter than that now.   :yike:
Moses Lake was a fun place to grow up.

Yeah I was referring to that bridge, well that sucks, it was a nice place to catch some perch and walleye during times of the year.  Where exactly are they building the dock at?

Went ice fishing one time on fish lake over by Wenatchee.  No one was on the ice.  Any more than one or two...and there probably would not have been any.  I walked out with a float tube, life jacket and waders on...just in case.  The float tube helped distribute my weight and I was able to fish the heck out of perch there.

the dry side fly club out of moses lake donated $500 to help with the dock.  it will be for fishing only,no boats, no sunbathing, etc.  the walleye club is doing the dock.  mike w

Grant County Tech Team responded to an Ice skater threw the ice on Moses Lake, Thursday. Skater self extricated before the team arrived. Thin spots out there for sure. I am at work today, and no ice rescues, lots of fishermen out. Luteai, Did you do any good?

Moses Lake Gun Club donated some money for the dock as well.

I beard they're putting it out almost next to the freeway. That's where it's sitting now, a ton of people out on the ice today. Crazy

Just to be safe, if you head out on the ice be sure to take a dog on a leash with you. That way, if you fall in you are bound to be saved, one way or another, regardless of who shows up from the forum.  :chuckle:
