there are elk all over washington but the east side is almost all spike only except the area up around northport and colville, those elk are very spread out and very hard to find, you guys would be better off trying idaho or montana, unless you wanna hunt roosevelts. if you really wanna hunt washington for elk look up harvest results on the wdfw website www.wdfw.wa.gov and look for units with the highest numbers as well as percentage of harvest and start out by making a scouting trip and getting familiar with the area.

I agree with that. That license/tag will cost a little more, but you're closer to Idaho anyway than the best units in this state, so you'll make up for it in what you save on gas. Plus you'll be able to kill branch antlered bulls, and maybe even a cow, depending on the unit, whereas in most of eastern wa. you can only kill spikes.

Another good thing about Idaho is that depending on tag bought (A or B) even though seasons have already started you can switch modes between bow, rifle, muzzleloader for a total of six weeks of hunting if not successful. Idaho non-resident tags go on sale as extra tags august 28, so residents & non-residents can buy leftovers @ non-resident price for second tags. get 'em while they're hot, when quota is met they're gone 'til next year.

yeah you might want to warm up to us and spend a little time on this website. do your research and you might be a little late this year but start planning for next year.  ELK hunting is not just show up and shoot an elk.  Its a passion for some of us and you need to really take it seriously.
do your homework and be persistant.
