Living in the area of Black Canyon for the last 27 years we have we have enjoyed watching the elk herd steady increase in population. Also the increase of the moose, and the slow return of the mule deer. But as of late, we have seen more wolves, in Oct 21 2012 about a hundred yards from the house a large grey and a smaller black wolf, following the deer trail, then again at the top of the canyon Oct 15 2012 a large grey wolf watching my son and son in law while they were deer hunting. This past weekend 1/12/13 at 2 PM our neighbor was outside watching the hillside where a small herd of 10 elk were grouped when the elk spooked and over the top of the ridge came 5 black wolves, 2 of the wolves sat down and 3 of the rest of the pack chased after the herd, a little while later the 3 wolves came back, that night there was howling and into the morning. Morning of 1/13/13. at 8:AM my husband was letting out our dogs when he said to me, look at the 3 wolves, we got our dogs in, thank goodness before they saw or smelled them, and I grabbed my camera,of first thought I should have been grabbing something else, I would have if my dogs would have gotten involved, we know how that would have turned out

. So I snapped a picture of one of them in our pasture not 100 yards from the house. Too many sighting...and to dang close

I hope I'm not to dang old when they are delisted to buy a tag and have a nice rug made..
