Thurston County Sheriff's Office holds gun turn-in Saturday

Not just King County anymore

Thurston County Sheriff's Office holds gun turn-in Saturday

Anyone with unwanted firearms or ammunition can take it to Saturdays gun turn in hosted by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McLane Black Lake Fire Department, 125 Delphi Road N.W. in Olympia, according to a news release.

"Often times, unwanted firearms are not secured properly and can end up in the hands of people who don't know how to use them or shouldn't have them at all," Sheriff John Snaza said in the release.

There were 174 firearms stolen in 106 burglaries in unincorporated Thurston County last year, the release said.

"Those guns are now on the street and unaccounted for," Snaza said.

The firearms turned into the Sheriff's Office will either be traded for credit to the Sheriff's Office with a federally licensed firearms dealer or destroyed at the request of those surrendering the firearm.

The Sheriff's Office will also have prescription medication disposal bins and the Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers will have child identification services.

The Sheriff's Office specialty equipment will also be on display.

I don't understand what sort of "credit" they are giving for the turned in guns.   :dunno:

Anyone?

Anyone?

Almost sounds like you get credit towards the purchase of another gun? "traded for credit to the Sheriff's Office with a federally licensed firearms dealer"

Or maybe credit at a store that sells guns? Such as buying fishing gear at a Walmart?

"Those guns are on the street and unaccounted for" explains the ThUrston Cty Sheriffs Department's abilities perfectly....   :bash:

Hey Thurston County sheriffs, I'm still waiting to hear about my trailer, tools, bear rug, caribou hide, etc....

I wonder if it would be a good place to buy guns and ammo as people are heading in to give them away?
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Is this happening this Saturday?  While there is a gun rally going on?  Hmm... did somebody think this up in order to get the "anti gunners" next to the "gunners" in order to create some tension and maybe something dramarific for the news?

Then again... y'all might want to make some signs saying something like "Pesos for Pistols"  or "Turn in guns here" in front of a table with some well dressed 'staff' sitting at it.
