Is a .223 53gr V-Max adequate for cougar at 100 yds or less?

With a wide open shot at a good angle to a vital target, sure. It'll kill 'em. But you're risking not having a high percentage kill shot in many many many situations. Use your deer gun. It will work on an ideal shot too!

where the heck is bearpaw, he probably has a thousand cat pics. i have killed 2 but i never had a digital camera and i only have one pic of the little 100 lb tom i killed in 95. i always have a camera now but as luck would have it i havent killed one since. hopefully i will be able to call one in. i bought an ecaller so hopefully that will help
